Are LED Battens Easy to Install?
LED battens are designed to be as user-friendly as possible, with many models featuring simple surface-mount designs, pre-wired connectors, and supplied fixing kits. This makes them quicker to install compared to older fluorescent fittings, which often required more complex wiring and components like ballasts and starters.
Most LED battens are surface-mounted directly onto ceilings or walls. Installation typically involves:
- Fixing the bracket or housing to the surface using the provided screws or clips
- Making the electrical connection, usually to a standard 230V mains supply
- Securing the batten to the bracket or cover plate
Some models are also linkable, allowing multiple battens to be connected in series, which is particularly useful for corridors, garages, workshops, or warehouse racking.
However, it’s important to note that any installation involving mains electricity should always be carried out by a qualified electrician. This ensures not only your safety but also compliance with UK wiring regulations and building standards.
Incorrect installation can lead to electrical faults, increased fire risk, or invalidation of product warranties and insurance policies. So, even though the fittings themselves are designed to be straightforward, professional installation is strongly recommended.
