Normal GLS Light Bulbs
Normal bulbs, GLS (General Lighting Service) bulbs, are incandescent lamps traditionally found around the home. Normal light bulbs are often a desirable option because of their smaller price than compact fluorescents, simple operation and easy installation. However, despite their lower initial cost of GLS bulbs, they are more expensive to run than compact fluorescents and have a shorter average life.
Please note that GLS bulbs are currently being phased out as part of an EU directive. Frosted bulbs, pearl bulbs and opal bulbs have already been banned from production and will not be available once stocks have been exhausted. We still have stock of opal, frosted and pearl bulbs. Clear GLS bulbs will be gradually phased out over the next few years and will out of production by 2012 unless they have an energy efficiency rating of category C or higher. GLS lamps are currently very wasteful with their use of energy and usually have Energy Efficiency ratings of E or F.
