Our range of more traditional lamps - they produce light as a result of electricity passing through a thin filament within the lamp. These incandescent lamps are cheaper than fluorescent lamps but have a higher maintenance cost as they have a shorter life and consume more energy. They are currently being phased out by manufacturers and retailers because of their high energy usage and from 2012 will no longer be available. Pearl/frosted/opal bulbs are now banned from production and once all stocks are exhausted, they will no longer be available. This initiative is to encourage the use of the more efficient compact fluorescents which consume up to 75% less energy.
