TP(a) Meaning - To be TP(a) rated the panel must be either; Polycarbonate at least 3mm thick, or Polycarbonate with a class 1 rating when tested to BS 476-7, or any other material that when tested to BS 2782-0 Method 508A performs so that the test flame extinguishes before a certain point on the test sample and any flame or afterglow self-extinguishes within 5 seconds of the source of the ignition being removed.
The UK Building Regulations do not require minimum spacings between TP(a) rated diffusers nor do they limit the % of the ceiling area that can be made of TP(a) rated diffusers.
