What Is LED Emergency Lighting and How Does It Work?
LED emergency lighting is an essential safety feature in commercial, industrial, and residential buildings. It provides illumination when the main power supply fails, helping to guide occupants to exits and prevent accidents.
How It Works:
- Normal Operation: LED emergency lights are connected to the mains power and remain off or continuously lit, depending on the type.
- Power Failure: When the primary power supply is interrupted, an inbuilt battery backup system automatically activates.
- Battery Supply: The LEDs remain illuminated for a required duration (usually 3 hours in the UK) using stored battery power.
- Recharging: Once the mains power is restored, the battery begins recharging for future use.
